Fireproofing Works

Over the past 10 years, Phoeniq has executed and is still involved in the execution of fireproofing works in many projects within Oil & Gas sector for KOC, KNPC... etc. and just as well within commercial sector for Governmental bodies / entities plus other major privately owned companies.

Responsibly enough, WHEN DEALING WITH FIREPROOFING WORKS, Phoeniq regards itself as an entity operating in the business of SAVING LIVES BEFORE PROTECTING ASSETS…!

"Fireproofing" is a term referring to "protection against fire".

Fireproofing

In order to fulfil the requirements of Building Regulation to maintain the building's stability for a reasonable period, the load bearing elements in the structure must not be allowed to heat up to a temperature at which they begin to weaken and, eventually, collapse. The passive fire protection systems are installed on or around the elements to be protected, and provide localized protection generally by thermal insulation. Typical passive fire protection systems include fire resistant boards, mineral fiber, Cementitious sprayed systems and Intumescent coatings. To care for people's lives means to execute relevant fireproofing works to the best of application criteria practices in terms of preparation, application method and material applied dry thickness. THEREFORE, Phoeniq is one of the leading contracting companies which proud itself to protecting structural steel with the tested and approved fireproofing material thickness for the required Fire Rating when executing a fireproofing job; meeting as such manufacturer's recommendation and specific details in all senses.

First step is to determine the proper fireproofing systems for a given project, and such a system must be in accordance with the specification; fulfilling the UL, BS or other requirements recognized by local authority codes such as Kuwait Fire Services Directorate known as KFSD.

Generally, designers and builders say it is equally essential to fireproof structural steel in new construction as well as maintenance & repair; i.e., older buildings are recommended to be re-fireproofed against fire dangers after asbestos abatement. Time and again, Phoeniq cares to enforce and adopt the minimum standards required for precoating preparation to ensure best quality works being introduced in a fireproofing works; as per different site conditions, strictly adhering to fire engineering standards and material's manufacturer guidelines.
